I have a small wrist that gets a lot of wear and tear. It’s just not a very smart watch. I have the Pebble Time, and that is pretty smart, but it’s not designed for the average user. This is a watch that works for me. It tells me to go to the store and buy my favorite coffee and doughnut, or it tells me to keep an appointment to get my hair done. It’s a great watch for that reason alone.
Swiss watch manufacturer Swatch has done an excellent job of keeping up with the trends in smartwatches, but even they could only do so much. They’ve had to invent a new type of button to let the wearer change the band color and strap color. That means you can’t use the Pebble Time on the train or in the office when it’s still wearing the band that you got for Christmas. I mean, come on, what a deal.
Yeah, the Pebble Time 2 is a smartwatch, but its all swiss. Swatch has some really nice watches from some of the best designers on the planet, but theyve been working at it for a long time, so theyre probably not going to stop anytime soon.
All we can do now is wait and see if Swiss technology will give us a better watch. It might be a while.
Swiss tech is nothing new, but it has really made a name for itself recently. The best way to tell when Swiss watch companies are finally catching up is when Swiss watch companies get their hands on a new model and go, “Oh, I think I like it. I like it a lot” and then they ship it out to all their customers.
