I’ve been thinking a lot about defense aviation and its role in the war on terror, and it’s pretty clear that the most important factor in the military’s success is its ability to develop new, cheaper, and more maneuverable aircraft. In the A-10, the Air Force decided to focus on the A-10/A-10E because of its high fuel efficiency.
The A-10E was developed, produced, and used in war for a long time, but in the last decade it became clear that its fuel consumption was pushing it to the limit. So in the last decade, the Air Force bought new aircraft from Boeing, such as the A-10C, and the A-10E, and added them to its fleet.
The A-10E has a good reputation, but its reputation has been tarnished by the fact that the Air Force developed a newer model that is even more fuel efficient and cheaper than the earlier one. And it wasn’t just that it had a new engine either. It also had a new radar, which is not something the Air Force normally uses.
The old version of the A-10 could run at a full throttle, but the new version is so fuel efficient that it can run at half throttle. Thats a big improvement, but it also makes it more like a tank.
Thats also a big improvement on its predecessor, because the A-10 made use of its radar to help out with search and rescue operations. It also had a new wing, which is more than can be said for the A-10’s previous ones. The A-10s wings can be longer than the older A-20’s, and in the case of the old A-10s they were a lot longer.
