I think that we are so used to using the term “weather” in reference to natural phenomena that we’ve forgotten that we are not the only ones that respond to our environment. In fact, we are experiencing all kinds of changes in our environment, whether they be from the sun, the wind, or the rain.
Our weather has been changing quite a bit throughout the year. Some years are still rainy and cold, while others have become quite pleasant. This year has been the exception, as the weather has been warming, with a nice cool change of temperature on the spring equinox. It may not be as obvious as the change in temperature, but it is a change in our weather that we all need to be aware of.
The climate change that we are experiencing right now is not because of global warming. It is a simple increase in temperature caused by the sun warming the atmosphere. The sun itself is taking up a lot of heat, but it is the change in temperature that has caused the warming.
This is one of the reasons why I always try my best to keep a window and door open in the summer, and why I like to wear a sweater in the winter. Even in the warm weather I have found myself looking at the sky and thinking about the change in the seasons. I am always surprised at how quickly the weather changes, especially in the South. In fact, I’ve always found that the biggest changes in weather that I notice are when I’m driving.
In the late 1970s, it seemed like the days of summer were numbered. The days of high winds and humidity were coming to an end. That was before the computer came along and made it possible to change the seasons instantly. Weather forecaster Phil Elwood once told me that the days of summer were numbered, but the days of winter were not.
I know when it feels as though the South is beginning to cool down, and that the days of summer are numbered. I know it when I’m in the car and the windows are fogged up with the heat and I feel as though the days of summer are numbered. It’s like when the weatherman says that’s the way it is, but I’m not sure the weatherman really means it.
The difference between weather and climate is the difference between what we can change and what we can’t. Weather is the weather. Climate is the climate. Weather can be changed, but it can’t be changed back. Climate can be changed, but it can’t be changed back. Weather is what we have control over, and climate is what we have control over. If you want to change the weather, you have to change the climate.
Weather and climate don’t tell the whole story though. Weather is a general description of the weather on Earth, and climate is an abstraction of how the weather is felt when it is at its worst. Weather tells us the weather will be good, and climate tells us that the weather will be bad. Weather can be changed, but it can’t be changed back.
