I’m so excited to be writing about a food blog that we all know, but not many know about. New York Deli News is a food blog that has been around since 2011 and features food, culture, and travel news.
They have an on line forum where you can leave comments and opinions and the like, and their Twitter feed is a real thing too. It’s like Facebook for food, and it’s got a lot more followers than Facebook itself.
New York Deli News was a real thing for quite a while. In fact I thought it was defunct until I signed up at the New York Deli Hall of Fame. I’ve never been to a food blog before, but I’ve heard about them from others and I’ve been reading about them for a while. I’ve finally decided to check them out and see what all the hoopla is about.
The New York Deli News was started by the late great John Ahern in the 1980s. He had a real talent for writing about food and I think he was the only person I know who would take a bite of anything he wrote about (and I mean he was a food writer). I think he was probably the first to write about the history of New York Deli (before it was a real thing).
With the help of his daughter and his son-in-law, John started the Deli News to get people talking about food. He was an avid reader and writer and he had a great eye for getting the word out about food. You can see his original articles on his blog, www.johnahren.com.
