The Oregon unemployment rate has fallen for four months in a row, but that doesn’t mean that it’s really “falling” in the sense of a general decline. If the state’s unemployment rate is decreasing (or if you think it’s decreasing), then that means that the state is having fewer people out of work. That means that the state must be losing more jobs, which means that the unemployment rate should be falling.
That doesnt mean that Oregon is going to become the next California, but it does mean that we can expect to see higher unemployment rates there. There are fewer and fewer people left to do the things Oregon needs to do when it is losing jobs. And 2. There are a lot of unemployed people who can’t find jobs. We currently have unemployment on the high end of where it should be.
