Understanding the Process of Transferring Bike Ownership

Transferring the ownership of a two-wheeler is a crucial step in purchasing a second-hand vehicle. This process is essential for avoiding future legal complications related to registration, two-wheeler insurance policies, and other vehicle-related matters.

The Motor Vehicles Act 1988 mandates the transfer of ownership for second-hand bikes to maintain legal clarity and prevent potential disputes.

The significance of transferring ownership lies in its ability to legally register the vehicle under the new owner’s name, avoid legal complications in case of accidents or disputes, and enable the new owner to renew the insurance for two-wheelers, pay road tax, and obtain servicing.
